Want to learn how to Highland Dance?
Adult Recreational Classes in Vancouver
Are you an adult that has always wanted to try Highland dancing? Or maybe you danced in your youth and would like to restart for fitness and fun?
Susan Nase, our Vancouver Artistic Director and founding member offers private and group Scottish Highland dance classes for recreational adults and absolute beginners! Susan is a certified highland dance teacher through the SDTA (Scottish Dance Teachers' Alliance.) Starting her highland dance career at the age of 9, she went on to compete at the international level. While living in New York City in 2011, Susan co-founded Shot of Scotch NYC and upon moving to Vancouver in 2012, co-founded the new branch in her home country of Canada.
The classes are kept small to give each student ample attention, growth opportunity and individual challenges. The focus is on FUN, fitness, technique and learning about the traditions of highland dance. Each class includes a full warmup, barre and strengthening work, technique, new material as well as a full cool down. For those returning to highland dance after a break, these classes are a great way to get back into the swing of things without the pressure of competition, or risk of serious injury from too much intensity too soon.

Katherine started dancing at 5 years old, and hasn’t stopped pas de basque-ing since. Through her childhood and teen years, she danced in Kamloops and competed at a championship level. She received her SDTA teaching certificate and has taught highland, tap and fitness classes. Since moving to Vancouver to attend UBC, she has been dancing for Shot of Scotch Vancouver. She loves being a full company member as well as the social media coordinator for an amazing group of dancers.
